📱
Apps You Need

CamperMate, Rankers, the NZMCA app, and how to use each one to find legal spots, read real time reviews, and plan your nights before you drive.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

The mistakes we have seen catch people out repeatedly. From assuming what worked in one town works in the next, to arriving too late for the good spots.

⚠️

Important: All vehicles used for freedom camping must display the new green self-contained sticker (updated in late 2024). The old blue sticker is no longer valid. If you are renting, always check the windscreen before you accept the vehicle. This guide explains exactly what to look for.
