Quick Jaipur trip—big mistake

Why We Needed a Luxury Escape

After spending almost seven weeks in our hometown Surat, we were done with “resting.” (I say “resting” because it wasn’t exactly relaxing for Sagar, who had tons of work.) We met so many friends, relatives, and family that it was exhausting. Then we headed to Jaipur, thinking it would be cool to explore a new city, but nope—it was THE busiest season, and the city’s chaos got to us. So, we decided to take it easy in Delhi.

Delhi was a planned stopover before our next travel destination, so we were looking for a comfortable place to crash for the day—a place that offered both convenience and a touch of luxury. Enter Marriot! That’s how we found ourselves exploring Marriott properties in Delhi Aerocity.

We couldn’t use miles or points like Americans do (ugh, travel hacking is harder in New Zealand), but we decided to splurge a little and give these places a go. Plus, the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio was the cheapest 5-star option in the area, making it a good entry point. Aloft New Delhi Aerocity, as part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, offered a delightful experience with its vibrant and modern vibe.

Our Stay at Marriott: First Impressions and Surprises

We paid USD 105 (INR 9,081 (including taxes)) for a standard room at the Aloft New Delhi Aerocity, Marriott, and it felt like discovering “affordable luxury in Delhi Aerocity.” From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was on another level. The guard at the gate greeted us warmly, and every staff member we encountered was fantastic.

When we stepped into our room, it was like stepping into a whole new world. The space was massive, the bed was giant and insanely comfortable, and there was even a proper desk with a handwritten welcome note just for us. It’s these small personal touches that made the experience feel extra special. The bathroom was luxurious in every way—a perfect mix of design and functionality. And let’s not forget the robes—they were incredibly soft and cozy, making us feel truly pampered.

Dining at Marriott: A Feast to Remember

If you’re looking for top-notch dining, Marriott doesn’t disappoint. The hotel boasts a cafeteria, two restaurants (one Japanese and the other Indian/continental), and a cocktail bar. We couldn’t resist peeking into the Japanese restaurant, which looked amazing. But since it was our last night in India, we went for a farewell Indian meal at Nook.

The food was nothing short of spectacular. We ordered one pizza and one biryani—a perfect mix of our cravings—and both dishes were premium in taste and quality. The portions were generous, the flavours were exquisite, and the serene ambience made it an experience to savour. The prices were surprisingly reasonable for a 5-star hotel. They also have a buffet option with tons of Indian and continental choices, which was slightly expensive priced at INR 2,566 (taxes included).
